Yuma County Sheriff Overview

Current sheriff Todd Combs took office after the November 2018 election. His official biography describes more than 27 years with the Colorado State Patrol, including 22 years patrolling Yuma County roads. Yuma County Jail Population

Yuma County's current jail population data requires precise wording. Vera Incarceration Trends reports Yuma County jail rated capacity and total jail population as 0 for 2023, 2024, and 2025. Before that shift, historical data showed a Yuma County rated capacity of about 42 beds through 2022 and a reported total jail population of 7.25 in 2022.

Those figures should not be described as proof that Yuma County has no arrests or that every person is transported under the same rule. The supported fact is narrower: the county dataset reports no active Yuma County jail population or rated capacity for 2023-2025, and the sheriff's own jail page points housed-inmate visitation to Washington County Justice Center. That makes the sheriff office a records and arrest agency for inmate lookup purposes, not the current public-facing place for jail visitation or commissary service.

The official Yuma County inmate search starts with two sheriff-controlled roster channels: the Yuma County Sheriff County Jail page and the Yuma County Sheriff inmate-list page. The county jail page links its roster image to MobilePatrol/Appriss. The inmate-list page did not reveal static roster rows in research, but its page scripts include a charges-for-inmate modal, which suggests charge details may display when the dynamic roster renders.

The jail source is the key link between the Yuma County arrest record path and the Washington County Justice Center housing path.

1. Open the Yuma County Sheriff inmate-list page or the MobilePatrol link from the sheriff jail page.
2. If the roster shell does not load, call the sheriff office line during business hours or the jail page phone for local custody questions.

The Washington County Justice Center page is the better place for housed-inmate visitation, mail, phone, and money details. The Yuma sheriff page remains the better starting point for a Yuma arrest, local booking question, sheriff report, or public-information removal request.

Yuma County Sheriff Contact

Use the Yuma County Sheriff's Office contact information for local law-enforcement records, office questions, jail page questions, public-information removal requests, and general custody fallback when the roster does not render. Use emergency services for emergencies, not the office line. Use Washington County Justice Center when the issue is a housed person's current facility status.

Yuma County Jail Visits

Yuma County's sheriff page lists local visitation rules and also tells visitors to contact Washington County Sheriff's Office for inmates housed at Washington County Justice Center. That two-part instruction must be kept intact. The local Yuma page says visitation is first come, first served, visitors must show valid government-issued identification, Mexican identification cards are not accepted as valid ID, and visitors are subject to fingerprint verification.

For a current housed Yuma detainee, Washington County's HomeWAV schedule is the safer controlling source because the person may be physically held in Akron. The Yuma table still matters for historical and local page context, but visitors should not drive to Wray or Akron based on a web table alone.

Yuma County Records Requests

The sheriff's records request page is narrowly worded around requests to remove public information from the Sheriff's Office website or social media, and it directs people to contact the office during normal business hours. The broader Yuma County open-records procedure requires a written request to the proper custodian, enough detail to identify the records, and a response within three working days in normal cases, with up to seven additional working days when extenuating circumstances exist.

Yuma County's general CORA page lists standard paper copies at $0.25 per page and staff retrieval time after the first hour at $41.37 per hour. Criminal justice records are governed by the Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act, so do not treat every sheriff booking item as a simple general CORA request.

Yuma Sheriff Mail Money

Yuma County Sheriff's Office is not the current facility-services source for most housed-inmate mail, phone, video, tablet, commissary, or money-deposit tasks. For a person housed at Washington County Justice Center, use Washington County's MailGuard, HomeWAV, and Access Corrections procedures. The Yuma sheriff remains useful for bond-rights information, local booking questions, and determining which agency created a record.

That split is practical, not just technical. A family member may need Yuma County for the arrest report and Washington County for visit scheduling on the same day. Keep the inmate's full name, date of birth if known, booking or inmate ID if available, and arrest date ready before calling either office.

Yuma County Booking Path

Yuma County-specific pages do not publish a full booking manual. A local arrest can begin with the sheriff, Wray police, Yuma police, Colorado State Patrol, or another law-enforcement agency. Booking commonly includes identity checks, warrants, property inventory, medical or mental-health screening, fingerprints, a booking photo, and entry of arrest or charge information. Because the county jail page directs housed-inmate visitors to Washington County Justice Center, booking and housing may involve transport outside Yuma County depending on the case and current facility arrangement.

The court side remains local. Yuma County Combined Court handles hearings and docket entries for Yuma County criminal cases, and the 13th Judicial District Attorney decides what formal charges to file. A sheriff or jail entry may show arrest allegations, while the court record shows filed charges, hearing dates, disposition events, and case numbers.

Yuma County Sheriff Context

The sheriff office sits in Wray, the county seat, near other local record points such as Yuma County Combined Court. That matters because a user searching for a jail record may need more than one office: the sheriff for the arrest record, Washington County for the housed-inmate facility record, the court for hearings, and the district attorney for charging decisions or discovery routing. No separate public municipal jail roster was found for Wray or the City of Yuma, Colorado.
