The 2022 PREA audit describes adults age 18 and older, both male and female, in minimum, medium, maximum, and protective-custody levels. The audit also lists 11 housing units and service vendors for food service, health care, jail-based treatment, and mental-health services.

Population figures for Washington County Justice Center must be read with care. The PREA audit gives whole-facility numbers for Washington County Justice Center, not a Yuma-only daily count. It lists a designed capacity of 220, a current audit snapshot population of 108, and an average daily population of 117 for the prior 12 months. The same audit says the jail had not been over capacity during that prior 12-month period.

Yuma County's own reported jail data points in a different direction. Vera Incarceration Trends reports Yuma County jail capacity and jail population as 0 for 2023, 2024, and 2025 after a historical rated capacity of 42 beds through 2022. That does not prove an exact legal closure date or the transport rule for every arrest. It does support the practical custody pattern shown by the sheriff page: Yuma County is the local arresting and records agency, while housed-inmate services can be handled by the Washington County Justice Center.

Washington County Jail Intake

Washington County's official page gives concrete intake and release rules. Arrestees admitted to the facility must receive notice of the official charge or legal basis for continued confinement and bond, if set, in a language they understand. Washington County Jail Oversight

The PREA audit for Washington County Justice Center was conducted on site December 19-20, 2022, with the final report submitted March 1, 2023. It found 45 PREA standards met and 0 standards not met. PREA is a federal sexual-abuse prevention and response framework for confinement facilities.
